Nude photography is an expansive category that displays the male and female figure. These works are included in the category of fine art photography because of their dramatic and sensual depictions of the human body and are a highly popular form of art.
Artfully nude photos are beautiful. These photos generally choose a certain area of anatomy as their focus whether it is the curve of a back, as seen in 'French Curve' by John Carroll Doyle, or the range of expression available through human body language, as represented in 'Nude Male'.
Although they aren't as common as nude fine art pictures, erotic prints are also a popular category for this type of photography. These works typically have some sort of background or prop and typically show their subjects wearing lingerie or some other form of undergarment. However, erotic photographic art such as 'Cuffed' by Daveed Benito use the minimum amount of props available while 'Voyeur' by Goudon uses none. However, it should be noted that although these photographs are erotic in nature, they aren't pornographic as some people would believe. The primal energy of these works is purely artistic, rather than sexually gratifying.
Nude photography is a diverse art category but, despite the sometimes negative feedback that this artistic depiction receives, it is full of sensitive representations of the human figure. These nude prints strip away the conventions of society and truly deserve the name of nude fine art.
