Pep Ventosa (Born 1957) was born near Barcelona, in Vilafranca del Penedès. His work is focused on an exploration of the medium itself - reconstructing and deconstructing photographic images to create new visual experiences. His lifelong love for photography began at the age of 10 when he had his first camera. He went on to Spain's School of Arts and Crafts in Alt Penedès and learnt the mechanics of the darkroom, and later taught himself the potentials of the new digital darkroom. He currently lives in the San Francisco Bay Area in California. His photographs have been exhibited in Australia, Asia, the U.S., Canada, and throughout Europe. They have received top honors, and have been selected by the late Robert Rosenblum for special exhibitions. His work is in the permanent collection of the Crocker Art Museum. Ventosa’s creative work processes are used by photography teachers as teaching guides for photography students.

In 2012, the artist was recognized with a Grand Prize award in the American Icon Competition; a People’s Choice Award, a Photography Masters Cup award; and a Silver Award and from the "Europe’s most prestigious and biggest photography competition. Ventosa makes photographs out of photographs. The artist challenges the notion that a photograph can capture only one specific moment in time. His technique not only reexamines the medium of photography itself but creates visually striking images. His art has found its way into some of the most prestigious buildings in the world. He’s much inspired by the positive reviews he receives from art critics.
