Jay Fleck is a Shorewood, Illinois-based illustrator and designer.  His artwork is imaginative and bold, featuring animal pairings which are whimsical, fantasy playgrounds, beautiful compositions of shape and color, or just images of faraway lands.  He’s inspired by old memories from childhood coupled with new experiences with his two young children. His works of art have been selected for print more than 20 times at Threadless.com. They have also been featured on the front page of Society6.com, on products at the GAP, FAB.com, along with many of other internet and brick and mortar stores. The work of the artist is beautiful, bold and is full images of lands faraway. His graphics are full of heart and universal: inspired by the supportive internet communities of today and the literature of his childhood. Fleck says a good portion of his art draws on his childhood imagination.

So he supposes in that sense it comes from the perspective of a child playing. In a way he’s almost trying to impress his childhood self. He drew a lot as a child and then very little as he got older until he reached his mid-twenties. Fleck became interested in photography and then, by luck, came across Threadless.com where he began submitting artwork. Since then he’s been illustrating regularly. He has little traditional art background and his style is largely influenced by contemporary occurrences and trends. He likes clean vector work - smooth lines and shapes with touches of color and texture that make it look classic.
