Lee Dubin is a nationally recognized artist who is known for her beautifully executed and charming paintings of life in the Victorian Era. She has painted since she could first hold a paint brush. All she really ever wanted to be was an Artist. A native Californian, she continues to paint in her Los Angeles studio. It is not enough to have one glance at her painting. Upon further study, the viewer soon discovers a fascinating visual story into the lives and history of a bygone era. She tries to find what is best of the old and bring it to life in my art. A continually active and prolific artist, Lee is accomplished in many media including oil and pastels, watercolor, as well as, etchings and lithographs.
She attended the finest art schools in California including Los Angeles Trade Technical College, Otis Art Institute, UCLA, and Chouinard Art Institute. Lee’s technique of under painting and glazing is a direct result of studying the works of the Old Masters. She enjoys the challenge of capturing design, shapes, and textures making certain her research for the backgrounds, costumes, and characters are as accurate as possible. Lee is fascinated by another way of life, the lure of the past, another place, and she hopes she can show the viewer with a one act, one moment, one scene look back in time. She tries to imagine the personalities of each of the characters before she starts to paint. This helps to make her paintings look real.
