Gene Dieckhoner was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. He studied art throughout his school years and graduated with a BFA degree from Ohio University. Dieckhoner spent 3 years as an officer in the Air Force and another 5 years in Los Angeles as a commercial artist, after that, he decided to focus his attention on the field of fine art. To inspire appreciation of the diversity and vastness of this great land; to bring an awareness of the world around us; to raise the roof in the humorous exploits of those creatures who share our planet; all these ambitions find room in Dieckhoner’s sculptures and paintings. Dieckhoner is an admirer of the great wildlife artists and illustrators, and he strives to achieve color, composition and design as well as accuracy of scene and subject.

Through his style, he achieves a wide range of moods and emotions by utilizing the subtle differences of pencil, watercolor and oil. Dieckhoner's success has been attributed to his hard work and dedication and has been proven by numerous awards for a variety of media and subjects. Some of his commissions and accomplishments worth mentioning include more than one hundred drawings for Carte Blanche Magazine and the Los Angeles Times; sixty drawings for the Joshua Tree National Monument; 2 series of plates for the Bradford Exchange; a series of collectors plate on vanishing animals; series of puzzles for Bits and Pieces, among others. Dieckhoner worked on a variety of projects for Fox Animation Studios and his work is included in many corporate and private collections.
