Geoffrey Ansel Agrons (Born 1954) is an artist based in Philadelphia, PA where he was born, raised and currently resides. Between 1982 and 1986, he studied at Richard Stockton State College, Pomona, NJ, at the Medical School, Newark, NJ, and at the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey, NJ. His art is influenced by his profession as a diagnostic radiologist. Agrons spent his working days interpreting photographs of the interior of humans. He approached each study as a puzzle with a potential solution, and each of his analysis was a quest for certainty. In his written reports, he sought to minimize ambiguity as much as possible. He presumed that the images held a meaning for the patient and their physician, and he believed that that meaning resulted in intervention on behalf of the patient.

When he acquired a camera started to work and to find out what was going on beyond the radiologist’s world, and he chose to work with the still camera. As an artist he believes that his images hold special meanings to the viewers. Many viewers can have a look at the same images but “read” different messages or stories. Agrons has produced numerous pieces of artwork and he has held exhibitions at PhotoPlace Gallery, Middlebury, Darkroom Gallery, Essex Junction, A Smith Gallery, Johnson City, Washington Printmakers Gallery, Washington, DC, SohoPhoto Gallery, New York, The Center for Fine Art Photography, Fort Collins, and many others. He’s a much sought after artist and is busy working on one project after the other.
