Wilhelm J. Goebel (Born 1960) was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He’s a nationally known wildlife artist. He got his kick-off at Ithaca College in New York, where he earned a degree in biology. After his graduation, he switched his focus to painting and has never looked back. His works have been featured in many publications, like Sporting Classics, Wildlife Art Magazine, National Wildlife, Birdwatchers Digest and Outdoor Life to name a few. The artist was also chosen as the National Wild Turkey Federation Stamp Artist of the Year in 2004. Goebel has made field trips throughout the West Indies, Canada, and the United States to study wildlife, and he’s made a lifetime study of bird anatomy. Goebel’s work is on display in numerous museums and galleries in Canada and the United States including the Bennington Center for the Arts, Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum, the U.S. Postal Museum, The Ward Museum of Wildlife Art and the National Wildlife Federation.

His paintings are also found in many private collections across the country. Goebel is a very philanthropic artist and his artwork has benefited organizations such as Wildlife Forever, The National Wild Turkey Federation, Quail Unlimited and Ducks Unlimited. He’s a member of the Society of Animal Artists. He was selected to design the 1996 Alaska Duck Stamp, the 1996 North Dakota Duck Stamp and the 1996 New Jersey Duck Stamp. Birds are his specialty, and over the years, he’s gotten to the point where he can draw almost any kind of bird from any angle simply from all the time he’s spent studying them.
