The popularity of Edgar Degas increased when he began painting ballet dancers. Ballet Dancers soon became his most widely painted subjects, and his ballet dancer art quickly became a best seller. His most well known and controversial piece of ballet dancer art is called "The Dance Class(Le Classe de Danse)," and is another oil on canvas painting.
