Rhododendrons are popular plant known for their beautiful colors such as red, pink, white, purple and orange. They inspire many artists from abstract art, realism and sketching alike and there are many different Rhododendron artworks. The name “Rhododendron” comes from the Greek words “rodon” which means, “rose” and “dendron” which means, “tree”.
Famous artist of Rhododendron art Raphael Landea who painted Regal Rhododendron and Rhododendron Rojo. Raphael received his MFA from La Planta University in Buenos Aires, Argentina. His work has been featured in the creative capital database of art projects and in public collections such as the Museum of Art and Memory, and the Fine Arts Museum in Argentina. He originally worked as a set designer and painter for theater in Argentina for over 15 years. He has been actively involved in designing and producing murals around the world. His latest murals were featured in San Francisco and Italy.
Another well-known artist is Marcelo Silvo, who created a Rhododendron art print that he named after the plant. Marcelo comes from a Portuguese family, who had a long tradition of art appreciation. He started painting in his early teens and developed his own unique style.
Marcelo focuses on creating his famous landscapes and his work is always filled with which color and texture. He finds inspiration from books, nature, photographs and the places he visits. He continues to paint seascapes, landscapes and city scenes. He says he feels privileged to be living in Europe and enjoys looking for new scenery to paint.
