Christian Choisy (Born in 1948) was born in Bordeaux. Unique spatial depth; gentle colors applied by combining warm tones of green and grey or as monochromes in perfect balance; transparent surfaces: all these qualities typify Choisy’s work. His most common motifs are portrayals of still-life. His compositions are harmonious and pure, and his subjects are contemporary. Choisy uses a human approach to his art and goes into the most intimate detail of the subjects: nudes with sensual luxurious bodies, the face of a blue-eyed woman or a broken heart. With a single stroke of the brush, he modestly and discreetly touches the deepest part of our souls, distinguishing his paintings at glance. He lived and worked in La Brede in his studio called “Espace Montesquieu” for many years, and after several exhibitions of his posters, prints and art in the south west of France, as well as in Portugal and Switzerland he decided to open a studio in Saint-Paul de Vence.

Currently, this is the studio where a majority of his posters, prints and art are produced. In 1999, he opened another studio in Honfleur, which is managed by his daughter. Many collectors are fascinated by his posters, prints and art which are design-oriented and are often free of simple artistic restraints with monochrome colors and style. Choisy says he complicates life in order to simplify it because it is easy to complicate it. In this way, he creates his pictures in such a way that the figurative and the abstract harmonize very well with one another.
