Dane Tilghman has established himself as one of the leading painters of Negro League Baseball images and African American Golf Art. Since 1979, Tilghman has exhibited his artwork throughout the South-East/North at galleries, festivals, conventions and trade shows. Dane has received numerous awards. The most outstanding is the Medal of Honor in Graphics that he received from the American Artists Professional League. His baseball image was incorporated into the Baseball Hall of Fame Museum in 1999. Additionally, the artist has displayed his art in Philadelphia at Veteran's Stadium and he has created a baseball mural in Atlanta for Turner Stadium. Venues where his art has appeared have not been limited to sports related events and galleries; his work has also appeared on ESPN's website, in Sports Illustrated, the Western Journal of Black Studies, and various scholastic books published by McGraw-Hill.

Tilghman's art has been seen on popular Television shows, such as "Roseanne," and "The Cosby Show" and articles have appeared on him in Black Parenting, Upscale and US Art magazines. His philosophy is to bring his best to life and not to hold back. He advises people to stay committed to serving the public through their talents and to always press on to new horizons. Tilghman has exhibited his artwork in one person shows at various universities including The University of Pennsylvania, West Chester University, Widener University, and the Butler Institute of Fine Art. His ha even been presented to various notable individuals. His art has found its way on to the walls of some of the most prestigious buildings in the world.
