Stewart Moskowitz is the creator of a fantasy world of whimsical animals that have been described as humorous, mischievous, fun loving and cheerful.
Moskowitz's earliest artistic influence came from his father, a wood sculptor who used to festoon his home with colorful dioramas depicting elephants, tigers and birds. Moskowitz remembers, "When I was just five or six years old, instead of selling lemonade, I would sell my paintings for pennies." Now, he has set up a rigorous schedule of beginning his workday at 4:00 in the morning and working until afternoon, when he stops to spend the rest of the day with his family.
Moskowitz was formally trained at Pratt Institute and the Art Students League, both in New York City. He also received an M.F.A. from the Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles, California.
Although his paintings, which command thousands of dollars, hang in galleries, private collections and corporate offices throughout the world, success for Moskowitz is the ability to reach the average person with his humor and images. His work is available in posters, limited edition prints, cards, and postcards.
