Kevin Liang (Born 1957) was born in China. He studied Chinese literature in the Jinan University from 1979 to 1982. In 1982 Liang immigrated to New York where he attended Queens College and studied computer graphics and art. Later he has devoted his time to oil paintings. His remarkable work emphasizes on color – at first in realistic, austere image and later leading to high-keyed, brilliant landscape. The intensified version of landscape appears to be illuminated by its own light source, and the brilliant pigments visually combine with subtler adjacent mixtures. Liang’s recent landscape paintings strongly represent a source of spiritual and emotional well being and leave the images out of literal into realm of the poetic.
His paintings are often described as silent poems, his poems as spoken paintings. His paintings are introspective and gently remind us of importance of tranquility and poetic feeling. Liang has traveled extensively to exhibit his art. In his new style of painting he paints directly outdoor from nature to quickly capture the true effects of light and color. His paintings have been shown in many art shows and art galleries around the country. And the paintings have been widely collected by many corporations and private collectors. He has a lengthy list of exhibits and numerous awards to his credit. Some of the paintings are published and distributed by an international fine art publisher, Modernart Editions. To Liang, every thinness and thickness counts, every brushstroke and every direction counts, and so do the most differentiated color shades.
