Shari White was born and raised on the East Coast. She began her training in art at the age of 14 when he entered the High School of Art and Design in New York City. She later attended Parsons School of Design, from where she received her BFA. After her graduation, Shari and David Black (her future husband), moved to Los Angeles where they still live to date with their two children, Sugar and Bob. After traveling to Rome and most recently to Northern France, the artist has been obsessed with creating works of art. In her works, she fuses a 20th-century sensibility with the antiquities. Roman frescoes and other classics; specifically those near Pompeii are Shari’s favorites. Her posters, art, and prints show White’s influences from her travels. The pieces of art are manipulated with both paint and sand paper and are heavily textured with gesso to give them a contemporary accent with a warm antiqued look.
Shari is a keen observer and has always been influenced by what she observes. Her pieces of art are currently much sought after by many public and private collectors and galleries throughout the world. Her work is featured in countless publications and products throughout the world. The turning point in Shari’s career came in 1987 when she had her first one-person exhibition at the Ankrum gallery in Los Angeles. Since that time, she has produced numerous commissions in the States and abroad, and has exhibited her posters, art and prints in galleries throughout the Southern California area.
