Monte Nagler loved art from a young age, but it was after studying with Ansel Adams that he began serious photography. It was during that period of intensive work that he realized that taking photographs was a way to experience beauty instead of just looking at it. Nagler believes that his fellow photographers should use photography to express the feelings that are inside them. His photographs have won numerous awards, and are found in many private and public collections, including the Dayton Art Institute, the Detroit Institute of Arts, Grand Rapids Art Museum, University of Michigan Museum of Art, The Brooklyn Museum, the Center for Creative Photography in Tuscon, The Ford Motor Company, Nikon International, Diamler Chrysler Corporation, General Electric Corporation, BASF Corporation, General Motors Corporation, Compuware, IBM Detroit, President George Bush, and Mayor Kilpatrick. Agents and galleries throughout the country also represent his photography. Apart from photography, Monte is also a noted teacher and lecturer of photography and a writer. He has conducted many seminars and classes throughout the United States and has also written a nationally syndicated photography column. He is the author of three highly successful photography books: “Monte Nagler's Michigan,” “Statements of Light,” and “How To Improve Your Photographic Vision.” Monte is frequently called upon to speak on photography topics on local television and radio shows and to judge contests. Monte is a recipient of the prestigious Artist in Residence Award from the Farmington Area Arts Commission and was the National Fine Arts Photography spokesperson for the Chevrolet Tahoe.
