Mason has been a committed abstract painter since the beginning of her career. She has had numerous exhibitions, including solo shows at the Grace Borgenicht Gallery and the Landmark Gallery in New York City, the Walker-Kornbluth Gallery in Fairlawn, New Jersey, and the Thomas Babeor Gallery in San Diego, California.
Her work is represented in a number of collections, including those of the Springfield Museum in Massachusetts, the Rockefeller Group in New York and the Ciba-Geigy Chemical Group in Ohio. A book about her work, Emily Mason: At the Heart of Abstraction, was published in 2002 (by David Ebony, Hard Press, New York). Mason lives in New York City where she teaches painting at Hunter College.
