Laura Marshall (Born 1873) was born in Lansing, Michigan. She loved art since her childhood and was determined to be a professional artist. Those around her also noticed her talent and encouraged her to pursue art as a career. She was so much influenced by the great artists who had come before her and even those who were alive during her lifetime. Loving art at such a young age made her learning process to be easy and she could produce very beautiful images even before she received any formal training in art. Laura not only became a painter but she also became an art teacher. She was active in California, Michigan until her death. Laura studied at Detroit Museum School, the Boston Museum School, and Columbia University. About 1903 after she moved to California, she furthered her studies at UC Berkeley.

For close to 30 years she taught at Berkeley High School and in the public schools of Fresno. She was a member of Pacific AA and California Art Teachers Association. Laura exhibited at California State Fair, UC Berkeley Museum, and Oakland Art Gallery, among others. Laura died on January 15, 1933 in San Francisco. Her art continues to cause a lot of excitement among collectors. They are currently found with many collectors around the world. Laura was good with colors and used it very well to bring a perfect balance in her pieces of art. Her art not only decorates the rooms in which they are hanged but they also inspire the viewers.
