From her childhood, Sharon France knew that she would become an artist some day. She liked to draw and paint during her free time. She has always had a fascination with old farmsteads, more so the barns and old farmhouses found on them. Her fondest childhood inspiration and memories come from the visits to her grandparent on her Midwestern farm. The farm was set around a horse pasture, the old barn, corn crib, granary, chicken house, and machine shed, and ended up at their old farmhouse. Although Sharon often uses the elements of Minimalism and Tonalism in her paintings, her painting style had Realism elements. She has been inspired by Minimalists, Tonalists, and Realist artists for her original art. Her art has been described as having a fascinating tranquility, in its simplicity. She paints in soft pastel, oil and acrylic, although she usually works in acrylic on stretched canvas for her landscapes of Heartland.

In her painting process, she builds up many layers using both dry and wet brush techniques. She holds a Bachelors of Fine Art Degree from Northern Illinois University. She says that the ideas for her paintings come from her imagination, and are often of memories and places that she has been and seen. Several of her paintings are in numerous private collections throughout the United States, in the art collection of Kishwaukee College in IL, as well as collections in: France, Canada, Portugal, Iceland, England, Belgium, Scotland, Ireland, Japan, Italy, Zimbabwe, Brazil, and Australia. Her paintings are on the cover of several books.
