Elyse DeNeige is an artist from Portland. Like many artists, she loved art from a young age, so she pursued every creative outlet she could manage. She attended the Savannah College of Art and Design and graduated with a BFA in Illustration. Elyse likes to try new things but there are always a few core techniques that can be seen in almost all her pieces. They all have balanced composition and all have exciting balance of color and light and a well selected subject. She works mainly in watercolor and pen and ink, but also dabbles in acrylics. Her work has been inspired by many renowned artists but she also seeks inspiration from her travels and from reading a lot. Her skillfully orchestrated shapes and brilliant colors seem as what she uses to lead her viewers through time and space in what can be perceived as a sequence of events that result in a feeling of physical movement and structure. Her love for fashion as well as Maine's animals can be seen in all her collections.
Elyse has attended many art exhibitions, museums and galleries to observe what other artists are doing. She never gets tired of observation and people and is always on the look out watching people and animals. Through her works, viewers may also catch glimpses of winter seasons and New England's beautiful autumn. Elyse sees her existence as a constant state of transition in which every point along its route corresponds with her state and time, and with those other points that intersect it. Her pieces have found their way to several galleries and in the hands of many private collectors and corporate.
