Robin Renee Hix was born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley. He has been in love with art since she was 5. Her love of art was influenced by Mexico since he traveled over the border. Robin captures unique culture and unexpected street image. She photographs towns, beaches, landscapes, as well as people who live in these places. Her black and white images are diverse. She usually transforms her photographs to brilliantly colored images by over-painting them. Robin had access to many world class galleries and museums for study and the fact that she lived in the Rio Grande Valley meant that she had the best opportunity to learn about color.

Unfortunately, during the flooding that occurred on Sunday, May 23, 2015, her home, studio and livelihood were devastated. Nearly all her earlier works were destroyed. Robin lives on a ridge above Blanco River in Wimberley, TX. As a result of heavy rains, the river exceeded the peak of the roof and destroyed almost everything in the house. She lost 30 years of her artwork including images and negatives, her cameras, current frames and artwork, photographic slides, printing supplies and darkroom, and dozens of computers, art supplies, art books and business records. Robin also her two vehicles and all her household items and everything she needs to support herself as a working artist. Her completed works that had been sold out can be found with both corporate and private collectors and in many art galleries.
