Sally Bennett trained as a painter at the Lacoste School of the Arts in Lacoste, France, and the Maryland Institute College of Art. She uses the instruments of texture and color to compose symphonies on canvas. She spent many years honing her sense for balance and color in the field of interior design. Her paintings have a musical quality because she bases them on the motifs of abstracted botanical forms, and the images recede and advance in a harmonious interplay of form, light, and color like the melody of a beautiful piece of music, that pleases and intrigues the eye. She says that it is the combination of colors that gives each painting a unique look. Sally uses bold colors and tinted plaster to build tension that is relieved by her keen eye for powerful composition and balance.

Since 2007 when she returned to her studio full time, that experience has informed her growth and development as a fine artist and attracted a committed following among collectors and designers across the country. In Sally’s work decoration and design have remained a constant force. She is influenced by the decorative aspects of many artistic cultures; whether a depression-era textile, a Japanese kimono, European decorative arts or Indian motifs. All serve a purpose of satisfying the soul and pleasing the eye. Her art has been to several exhibitions and art shows, and they have received positive reviews from viewers and professional critics. Her art can be found in a number of collections across the globe.
