Shanna Kunz is a contemporary landscape painter. Her work is a conscious play of color, light and mood, but as a naturalist rooted and raised in the varied landscapes of western America, to her, a painting means more than that to her. She says that each location is an encounter with the waters, the trees, and the land, that have always given her a sense of order and connection. Her Gallery Representations include Legacy Gallery - Scottsdale, Lovetts Gallery - Tulsa OK, Mtn. Trails Gallery - Park City, UT, Mtn. Trails Gallery – Jackson, WY, Kneeland Gallery, Ketchum, ID, Banks Fine Art Gallery, and Mission Gallery. When a location intrigues and inspires her, she will paint it into a series using a range of themes or keys, searching and experimenting to learn more about the natural threads that tie the landscape together with subtlety, complexity, and, more importantly, balance.

Article that feature her work can be found in Plein Air Magazine, Southwest Art Magazine, American Art Collector, Western Art Collector, Southwest Art Magazine, Western Art Collector, Fine Art Connoiseur Magazine, American Artist Magazine, and Artist to Watch –Southwest Art Magazine October Issue 2003. The artist looks for new and innovative ways to express distance and spatial relationships with layers of brushwork, paint and diffusion of light gradations. She hopes that her study of the landscape will bring her somehow closer to an honest translation of both land and soul as she pushes color and value into her compositions to make them harmonious.
