Ken Messom has been drawing and painting for as long as he can remember. He was born in the district of St. Anns in Nottingham in a working class. At ten years old, he was already selling pencil drawings of knights in armor to his fellow pupils. Messom’s artwork has been exhibited in The Royal Academy in London and in many other galleries throughout the country. He has illustrated several books on wildlife which is one of his passions. In 2002, he published his first set of cat and dog portrait greeting cards. He now has more than 40 designs that are much in demand both in Nottingham and abroad. Together with his son Tim, they have now launched a series of greeting cards, fine art prints and other stationary. Messom recently moved to Ireland where he lives in a cottage on the edge of the sea; and he fishes for salmon and continues to paint a range of coastal landscapes amongst other things.

From the first time he saw the sea and this view of the mountains, the changing light, the stunning sunsets and superb reflections, Messom knew he had to try to paint it; after all, he has always painted, even from very early childhood. Wildlife, still-life and portraits have always been his favorites. Messom’s creative work started about the same time the Apple Mac computer began to make lithography a thing of the past. He did not get enough time from the companies he was working for, so he decided to work from home using the traditional methods to help companies with graphic art, typesetting, and design work.
