Ben James is a graduate of University of Maryland in Baltimore County. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Visual Arts specializing in Graphic Design. James is a designer, a painter, a DJ, and musician. He is what people refer to as a multimedia artist. He loves what he does and his aim is to capture the feeling from a point in time in his pieces. He’s interested in combining the foreground with the background to create an overall image. He’s a self taught painter but he did a 3-year printmaking degree as he didn't have the confidence to join the painting degree class which was more demanding. This is because he had only used poster paint until that point. He’s glad that he didn't get taught to paint in a specific way, so he has all the freedom to express his creativity to the fullest.

Being self-taught has allowed him to explore many methods of painting in his own way, of which he has taken the bits he liked and encouraged them into what he feels is now a style of his own. He invites the viewers to take the time and enjoy looking at his works. His latest works have all been sold and so he’s open to offers of commissions of landscapes, portraits, and scenes of human interaction. He certainly liked making it apart from those times he wants to stab a brush through the canvas. He has held several solo exhibitions including one in Dudley.
