Cheryl Martin has been painting and drawing since childhood. An Arizona artist and native of Minnesota, Cheryl enjoys outdoor sports and loves to explore. She also loves backpacking and mountain biking. Cheryl’s love for exploring, as well as what she sees is often portrayed in her paintings. Her paintings are a result of an intuitive process that develops out of the combination of colors, layers, textures and shapes. She is always ready to try a new styles or techniques. She is fascinated by layers of transparent color peeking out beneath other layers. Cheryl enjoys the discoveries made in each of her new painting. Her paintings symbolize a curiosity of the delicate connections of shapes and colors in the natural world.
Cheryl studied at Nebraska Wesleyan University where she received her BA in art and an AA in Graphic Design. In 1989, she moved to Arizona where the rugged beauty of the desert and the landscapes provide her with a continuous source of inspiration for the many of her paintings. Cheryls’s hard work and dedication made her to become a highly accomplished painter at a young age. She completes her paintings with highlights and glazes that result in pieces that enter the minds of her viewers and become their dreams. Cheryl has a vibrant and whimsical style that often incorporates bold colors and clean lines. Her dynamic paintings are infused with intuitive sense of color, creative energy, and an innate understanding of composition. Most collectors are interest in her work because they are captivating and are of high quality.
