Lucia Marque is a native of Poitier, France, but is currently residing in Tucson, Arizona. She works in all mediums includ¬ing acrylic, oil, pastel, watercolor, colored pencil and charcoal. She’s a self taught painter who studied and was inspired by the works of the Pre-Raphaelites. She was also inspired by the works of Monet. Lucia is primarily a realist artist, but once in awhile she ventures to the more symbolic or abstract styles of contemporary art. She enjoys being challenged by modern European and American design influences in creating unique and new art. Viewers can see the diverse goals she’s striving for in the wide range of finished styles she creates. Using the unique style that she developed in the course of her work, Lucia is able to carefully capture the finer details of her subjects in a manner that amazes her viewers.
Close attention to detail and elegance are the common threads that she weaves through her work and Lucia hopes to continue creating images which stir a response as they speak to the viewer and also evoke emotion. Her art convey a certain naturalness and liveliness that’s able to draw the viewers into her work, whether it be an abstract or realist art. Her style brings excitement and energy to the canvas in a very artistic and creative way that’s all her own. The artist describes herself as a painter who’s able to see beyond what most people see in nature. Being self-taught, she doesn't use a formula and never over-thinks what she’s working on.
