An English painter known for his paintings of kids and their pets, Charles Burton Barber depicts a young girl in bed saying a prayer before eating her morning breakfast. On the left sits a small brown tabby kitten looking curiously at the tray of food. On the right a Jack Russell terrier stands on the edge of the bed and leans precariously over the tray. Staring with great intent, the pup waits in suspense to see if it will get a scrap of the morning meal (hence the title). Painted in yellows, greens and browns, this vintage print would look great in a gold or brown frame in a little girl’s room.
