Alfred Gockel used the keys of the piano in several of his famous framed piano abstracts that included many different musical instruments in the same picture. The piano is a very old piano and one can find paintings that reflect the older days of piano playing like “Young Girls at the Piano” by Pierre Auguste Renoir and “A Young Lady Seated at a Virginal” by Johannes Vermeer.
“Piano and Butterflies” is a great piece done by Marion McConaghie that takes a unique approach with newspaper and butterflies. A piece that is worthy of a good conversation about what the artists was thinking. Dawn Collins paints her piano pictures for those that love lots of color and child like characteristics in their art work. Her pieces like “One Afternoon” and “Play That Funky Music” are very eye catching.
