The Chrysler Building is one of New York's most famous buildings and landmarks. It is a skyscraper that stands over 1,000 feet and was constructed between 1928-1930 and was created to house the Chrysler Corporation.
The distinctive ornamentation of the building is based on features that were then being used on Chrysler automobiles. The overall design is an Art Deco inspiration which was popular from early 1925 until the mid 1940's. In 1976 the Chrysler Building was declared a National Historical landmark.
