Asia Jensen

Asia Jensen, born in Knoxville, TN is a multi talented artist who creates an array of nature related art prints. "I feel blessed that I am not starving doing something I love", she says. Asia's art career started in the late 80's and she is still creating pieces today. Besides art, Asia also enjoys singing and acting. Before devoting her life to art, Asia worked creating commercial set designs. She noticed that she could create the art she saw from the sets of the commercials. Asia Jensen now lives in Toronto, Canada while she continues to create nature-related art.

What job did you have before becoming an artist?

I have been utilizing my artistic talents for much of my 20ish working years in one capacity or another. I think the only job I can remember not being artistic related was babysitting my cousins when I was 15.

How did you get a career as an artist?

I created set design for commercials. I began to notice the lovely artwork hanging on many of the sets that I helped design and thought, "I could do that"

What styles of art have you tried? Which is your favorite?

I've always painted in a contemporary style, so that is my favorite.

Does the place you live have an effect on your art?

I never thought of that before. I have 4 distinct seasons now to inspire me and yet I'm most motivated in the spring and fall.

What is your biggest inspiration for art

Nature inspires me. I love the color of the trees against a tranquil blue sky or a flower as it blooms in spring.

What is one thing about you that most people don't know?

I wasn't always a vegetarian (in high school I once ate a 10 oz Steak with my dad in under 5 minutes, myth or reality??)

What art style do you classify your art as and why?

Transitional style. Although I paint a lot of floral and landscape imagery I do so in a modern way.

What art pieces (if any) do you have on your walls?

I have some of my own art but I also have a Banksy limited Edition print that I LOVE.
