Ian Scott Massie (Born 1952) is an artist who grew up in Buckinghamshire. He got interested in art while at Ryver's Primary School and he received enormous encouragement from his class teacher. While in Buckinghamshire, Massie became so much involved in music and would sing in church and other public gatherings. Although he already had something for art, he got more inspired to carry on with painting while at Slough Grammar School, being inspired by the colorful art made by his teacher, Romeo di Girolamo, who's currently the President of the Royal Society of British Artists. A year after leaving school and working in different jobs, Massie realized that conventional job setting wasn't for him. In 1973, he joined Neviiles Cross College to study teaching. It was during his time as a student that he went into professional painting, trying out his hand with oils and screen print. He also worked with other mediums such as acrylic, pen and ink and then went into watercolor where he finally realized great success.

His subjects are mainly landscapers, trying his best to depict the light effects on his subjects with the aim of properly displaying their character. After completing his university studies, Massie lived in Durham until 1982, mainly doing short projects for The Manpower Services Commission, being in charge of a youth training workshop. He later left the job market for self employment so that he could concentrate on his artistic works. Over the years, his creative pieces have been displayed in a number of galleries and platforms, including The Blake Gallery; Old School Arts Workshop, Middleham, New York (1993); Herriot's Gallery, Hawes (2014); and North Yorkshire Open Studios, Masham (2011). Massie’s works are mainly released to the market through The Masham Gallery in Masham, Wensleydale. He holds a Bachelor of Education and Masters of Art degrees. He currently works in different artistic fields as a painter, musician, and a guitar teacher. He founded Masham Arts Festival and Artison studios, which is used for teaching art. His creative pieces are sold in diverse finishing options, making it easier for customers to choose their preferred finishes.
