Roey Ebert grew up thinking that art could never be a career. She thought it wasn’t an option that anyone would really consider. In her family, doctor, lawyer, dentist, or teacher seemed like a good choice for a career. Her mother could have really liked a dentist in the family. So, Roey went to school, trying to figure out what she liked and she just couldn’t put my finger on anything. She became a Language Arts teacher for a school in Allentown. While she loved teaching Language Arts, she loved art even more. The school never had an art teacher for its middle school children so she was able to teach Language Arts and Art to the children. This, she says, was a wonderful experience for her. She was able to combine teaching and art.

She decided to leave teaching after she had my first child and concentrated on just art. She says that something about having a child made her a bit surer of herself and she was sure the art world was where she belonged. Roey painted murals for a living and her business grew. It was a fulfilling experience meeting people and seeing the joy that art brought them. She continued to paint murals for 15 years and life got a bit hectic after she had 6 kids. She always loved being around people and enjoyed each moment spent in Pennsylvania in their chaotic farmhouse. Roey loves what she does and has been able to meet so many wonderful friends and artists.
