A native of New England, Bruce Dumas is an artist who has been painting professionally since 1982. Dumas loved art since his childhood. He studied art at Paier College of Art. Originally, Dumas was working on fantasy and science fiction images, but later began creating landscape paintings and then incorporated wildlife subjects in the landscapes to depict them in their natural environment. He was also painting in oils originally, but now works exclusively on board and canvas, representing wide variety of seascapes, nature, harbor scenes, and landscapes encountered in his extensive field trips along the east coast and throughout New England. Dumas paints directly from personal observation and from nature, with his passion seeing him create amazing pieces in earnest. His handling of color and contrast brings the canvas vibrantly alive. He also captures a great deal of detail without overworking his brush strokes.

Dumas has exhibited in several fine art shows and in galleries in Vermont, Rhode Island, New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, Maine, Florida, and Connecticut. He had solo shows at New York City’s Patrick’s Fine Art Gallery, The Sandman Gallery, Audubon Coastal Center, and the Aardvark Art Studio. He also had the privilege to exhibit and sell his painting at one of Connecticut’s finest galleries called the Greenwich Workshop. Dumas is a member of Lyme Art Association in CT, and Naples Art Association at the Von Liebig Art Center. Currently, his work is displayed in three galleries: the Sandman Gallery, Center Framing & Art, and the Coconut Grove & interiors.
