Christina Long was born in Chicago and raised in Metro Detroit. She received her MFA in Printmaking in 2012 from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Christina is also a violinist for New York City’s New Amsterdam Symphony Orchestra. Recently married, she is now signs her work as Christina Baker. She has been heavily involved in the Metal community for more than 10 years; she cares about promoting the many women of color, especially those who love heavy music genres. Her paintings have been featured in Traditional Home Magazine and Via Gregg Irby Fine Art – Atlanta. They are also found in the collections of Mayo Clinic, the Baptist Medical Center and Alan Valentine (private collection) of The Nashville Symphony Orchestra. She prefers to work mostly in the impressionist and abstract genres, enjoying the challenge of creating harmony between styles that many artists would consider non-complimentary.

Self-taught artist Christina has chosen acrylics as her preferred medium. However, she doesn’t limit herself. She also uses mixed media as additional elements when the desire arises. She believes that these competing elements bring the original life that can be seen in her work which the artist calls “extremely intuitive.” Her ability to keep a hand in a contemporary style while finding synthesis between the uses of traditional artist materials creates her aesthetically pleasing and unique technique. Christina is a big fan of anything cross-over, so she tends to apply this attraction to her work. She’s represented by Gregg Irby Fine Art and York & Friends.
