Lanie Loreth received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design from Arizona State University and now lives in sunny Scottsdale, Arizona. She is an award winning two and three dimensional designer. For several years she and her partners owned and operated a greeting card and gift company called Nature Things. "I draw, paint, design ...because I love to...want to...need to. I am inspired by the graphic shapes that light and shadow create as they fall across objects. The forms become abstractions in reality. They take on a life of their own and guide me in creating the mood and emotion in my work. I take many reference photographs to capture the light and shadow play I want. I sketch, realistically describing the subjects, then with color, I respond to them emotionally. For the viewer, I hope each piece will stir an emotion or at least a smile." -- Lanie Loreth
