Helene Corriveau (Born in 1953) was born in Montmagny. She always demonstrated a strong taste for the arts since her childhood. At the age of 21 years, she obtained degrees from the Cegep of Sainte-Foy. She studied plastic arts. She later proceeded to the Laval University in Sainte-Foy, Quebec from where she graduated in 1979 with a degree in Marketing and Communications. She then studied jewellery during her stay in London, United Kingdom, in 1976. Upon her graduation, she returned to Canada, where she learned the techniques of stained-glass at the Laval University in Sainte-Foy, Quebec. Helene worked in marketing after her studies but later, in 1984, she decided to devote herself entirely to painting. She spent countless hours exploring the natural world, learned and honed her skills in painting in the course of her work.

Painting has brought to her a sense of solitude, peace and quiet that her previous works did not seem to offer. Helene embraced art as an outwardly natural way to relieve herself from the stress that results from the day-to-day activities. She began painting as a hobby but with time she discovered that she could make a career out of it, and she has continued to develop her style over the years in that medium. She loves painting and says while she’s at it she feels like she’s in her own little world - a world where nothing else matters. Helene has been much encouraged by the feedback she gets from those who view her art, especially the professional art critics.
