Jill Ankrom is an American artist born and raised in Ohio. She has loved art for as long as she can remember, and she can always recount the excitement she had when she got her first box of crayons. She specializes in rustic, contemporary style of painting. Jill creates her works from her old Ohio-based farmhouse where she lives with her husband and children. She enjoys her stay and work at the farmhouse, sparing some of her free time repairing it. To expand her artistic knowledge and introduce people to her works, Jill attended several craft shows. In 1998, she founded Stray Cat Art, a business she used to design painting patterns and books for painters. Interestingly, she chose that name for her business because of her cats that she keeps at home. Jill now has six cats that provide her with company when she’s making her artwork. Jill's works have been used on a number of products such as cards, tags, wallpaper, and wrapping paper. She has also had her paintings collected by different collectors due to their top-notch quality, depth and varying subjects. Although she’s already famous, she still continues to explore new ways of working and developing her style.
Throughout her work, she has been inspired by several quotes and she likes to share one by Winston Churchill: "Happy are the painters for they shall not be lonely. Light and colors, peace and hope, will keep them company to the end of the day."
