Mona Shafer Edwards has taught fashion sketching classes at UCLA and other academic institutions for many years. She’s a courtroom artist whose illustrations have been featured on networks and programs such as Entertainment Tonight, ABC, A & E Biography, CNN, and in numerous publications, including Los Angeles Times, Entertainment Weekly, and Newsweek. Mona Shafer is a freelance illustrator specializing in Courtroom and Fashion Illustrations. She’s a native of Los Angeles, California. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with Honors, and was one of the youngest graduates of the Art Center College of Design. She’s has co-authored 8 books on Fashion for Prentice Hall, Simon and Schuster, and for HarperCollins Publishers, New York. Apart from teaching, her other practical trade experience includes being guest lecturer at University of South Carolina and several area high schools.

Shafer has done artwork for manufacturers and major department stores, has illustrated many children's books and regularly donates her artwork to various charities. She has also created sketch art and storyboards for TV commercials and feature films. Mona Shafer’s courtroom illustrations for ABC News have received international acclaim, and many of her drawings have been featured in foreign print publications. She has been painting courtroom illustrations for nearly 20 years. In the course of that time, she has witnessed several high profile trials including those of Rodney King and OJ Simpson, and of Richard Ramirez and the McMartin Preschool. Her emotional and colorful drawings are in many private collections in the United States and abroad.
