Liz Maxwell was born in West Point, New York. She attended the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland and graduated with a B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley.
Maxwell's work has been shown in many exhibitions, including solo shows at HANG Gallery in San Francisco, California, and two-person shows at the Sticks Gallery in Berkeley. Her work has also been exhibited in numerous museums, including the California Museum of Art in Santa Rosa and the Oakland Museum of California in Oakland.
Maxwell has won a number of national awards including the First Place Award, "Watermedia National," granted by Long Beach Arts in California in 1998. She lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.
