William Buffett (Born in 1935) was born in Lincoln, Nebraska. He’s a painter whose landscapes portray peaceful, serene images. Some of the paintings also show pastel beach houses established on terrains overlooking calm seas; salmon and pink-colored stucco villas appear in some of his paintings. These are situated on winding and peaceful streets. Buffett also paints tall yachts that are moored in calm harbors. The artist strongly emphasizes balance and design in his artwork and he deals only with tranquil settings. Because there is enough stressful imagery and violence in the contemporary artwork of many artists, he has chosen to create art that makes people feel good. He began his art career by painting portraits. Buffett moved to Los Angeles in 1940 at the age of 5.

The cityscapes of Southern California particularly the residential ones along the shore of the Pacific, are still the primary subject matter of his art. He graduated from the Art Center College of Design in Southern California. Soon after his graduation, he discovered that his temperament made him to be unfit for commercial art and so he practiced portraiture instead. He decided to look at the art collections in the museums of the U.S. to supplement his schooling and to practice art economically; he converted a used delivery van into a motor home. He also set out to see as many museums as he could. It was during this time that the artist perfected his unique transparent serigraph print technique which he used to produce his art and he continues to refine in his newer works.
