Mark Roth, born 1961 in Berkeley, California is a photographer, printmaker, and private chef, now residing in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He received a business degree from the University of Oregon, and a culinary degree from South Seattle Community College. He is a self-taught photographer, and has no formal art education, except for a darkroom class he took in high school.
He shoots exclusively with 35mm, medium-format, and 4x5" film cameras. Roth's favorite subjects include ghost towns, ruins, old abandoned buildings, steam trains, and various landscape and nature shots. He travels throughout the Rocky Mountains and the West looking to photograph these subjects, before they succumb forever one-at-a-time to the elements, fire, or modern development.
