Kalon Baughan grew up on a Michigan farm and earned a B.F.A. from Albion College in Michigan in 1988. Art is an all-encompassing pursuit for Baughan, who has been honored in the past as Michigan Wildlife Artist of the Year and featured on CNN Headline News as the fastest-rising wildlife artist in the nation. Baughan has exhibited widely in the United States and Canada, and has been the featured artist at such prestigious wildlife art shows as the Pacific Rim Wildlife Art Exposition in Tacoma, Washington, the Northern Wildlife Art Expo in Lansing, Michigan, and the Prestige Gallery Original Art Showcase in Toronto, Ontario. He has received numerous awards, including best of show at both the Northern Wildlife Art Expo and the NatureWorks Oklahoma Wildlife Art Festival. Baughan has served as an instructor at many art symposia. His work has been featured in such magazines as U.S. Art, InformArt and Wildlife Art News. Baughan has published a book entitled Painting the Faces of Wildlife Step by Step, co-authored with Brook McClintic Baughan (F&W Publications, 2000), in which he demonstrates how to capture the spirits and personalities of wild animals. He currently lives in Colorado.
