Alberto Godoy (Born in 1960) was born in Cuba. In 1980, he fled the oppression of his native country and went to the United States. He brought with him to the U.S. vivid memories of Cuba, which are reflected in his colorful, bold, exotic, and images warm-hued. In a body of recent works, he has embraced figurative folkloric themes that depict scenes from day by day historical life in Cuba. His particular illustration of primitivism is projected through his use of embroidered volume that reflects his philosophy of the nature in the globular system of our universe. The artist has participated in several group and solo exhibitions at Ervab Art Gallery. Winter Street Art Center, Albert Gallery, Spirit of Eco and El Taller Gallery in Austin, TX, and Blosson Street Gallery & Sculpture Park in Houston, TX, Southwestern Art Gallery, Coral Gables, FL, Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Triunfando Awards, and The Schacknow Museum Of Fine Art, Plantation, FL.

His work has appeared in numerous corporate and private collections throughout South America, the United States, and Europe. Godoy is one of the most promising and exciting Latino artists in Houston. His large pieces are rich in vibrant color and textures and are technically brilliant. His work has been shown internationally, including in Cuba, and has had many shows in the U.S. as well. His art has attracted positive criticism from professional art critics and has been received well by his viewers. He uses texture and color to bring perfect balance in his pieces of art.
