Michael Buxton is a UK-based designer with an experience spanning more than a decade. He has worked in the greetings card industry, and has produced some of the best-selling ranges for clients like Recycled Paper Greetings, Paperchase and Clintons. Since he started working as a freelance artist, he's branched out into producing designs for books, homeware and t-shirts. In the course of his work, he's had work selected for Junique, Threadless, Disney and Hot Topic, among many others. His use of typography and his colorful digital illustrations would be best suited for prints and greeting cards. He produces fun, quirky designs with an emphasis on humor. While his work is mainly digital, Buxton likes to keep a hand-drawn, loose feel. Buxton loves to create characters and will go to any length and take any chance until he gets to draw monsters, monster cats or cats they way he wants.

Just recently, Five Mile Press gave him the opportunity to illustrate their children's book, and he has his fingers crossed that it will be the first of many. Most of his work is created digitally, but Buxton always likes it to feel tactile and playful, so he’ll usually begin by drawing out the image before he goes anywhere near the computer. He really enjoys trying his hand at different styles and techniques, but he’s always very happy working with hand-drawn type and characters. Humor plays a pivotal role when he’s working on designs and if there’s any reason at all to draw bizarre beasts, he’ll take it.
