Erika Pochybova is an artist who was born in former Czechoslovakia and he moved to Texas in 1996 where she became a citizen of the United States after 10 years.  She’s a self-taught artist who has developed a unique technique of painting in which she uses detailed combinations of brightly colored lines, shape and dots. Her imagery varies widely and includes many flowers, animals, abstraction and landscapes. In 2012, the University Medical Center chose her to paint two large, public art commissions in Lubbock, TX. Her paintings have been included in more than 35 exhibitions nationally. She’s inspired by life in general, but more so by nature. She likes to portray natural phenomena, characters, and symbols that coexist in a world of harmony, peace, and mutual consolation. In a New York City based national competition, Erika received a Silver Merit Award.

And in the “Texas National” competition, she won a 2nd place Award. This competition was juried by Mel Chin, a nationally-recognized artist. Her work was featured in the “Artist Portfolio Magazine” in 2011, and in 2010, she was a selected finalist for the "Hunting Art Prize" and won third place in International Landscape Competition. Her current work makes use of metaphoric imagery and an elaborate painting technique to comment on everyday life. Her process is developed improvisationally and intuitively as she works.  She creates visionary images by collapsing the 3D realm into a 2D veil of color spots. These are intended to send the eye of the viewer in pursuit of the enigmatic.
