Mary Beth Baker was born and raised in New York City. She’s a contemporary oil painter with a leaning towards realism. The artist is fascinated by Contemporary Realism. She studied with representational artist Steve Hawley, an artist who’s internationally renowned. She also received a bachelor’s degree in art history and art as well as a master’s degree in painting. The attention to detail and the skill in her artwork is a reflection of her years of art education and hard work. Mary’s perceptive and tasteful art work is for the discriminating buyer and collector. She has been represented in New York City by the Hoorn-Ashby Gallery located on Madison Avenue, Grand Central Art Galleries located on the 57th Street and the Mussavi Gallery in Soho. The artist has shown in New York City in the esteemed Sherry French Gallery in Chelsea.
She has also had shows all over the East Coast. Her art is in public and private collections throughout the United States. Her art education has been the several hours that she’s spent in many art museums and art galleries in New York City. Her studio is located in Newburyport, Massachusetts. Her distinctive art education has given her a cultured and sophisticated understanding of the mystery of art. She now lives and works in Newburyport. This historic, charming seaport city, north of Boston, with its flowers, gardens, antique houses and landscapes, has been the inspiration for her realistic paintings.
