Bluebellgray was founded by Fi Douglas. She gets inspiration from everything and anything - a trip to the Chelsea Flower Show or an art gallery, a walk through the park, and the traditional textiles she picks up on her travels, or a visit to a friend’s beautiful garden. Fi probably goes against the grain but she never looks at trend boards or forecasts for inspiration, she likes to cut her own path and design from her heart and does whatever feels natural at the time. She tries and pushes the design further with every collection to always give her customers (Bluebellgray customers) something new and exciting. Her favorite part will always be the initial design - she loves sitting down with paintbrushes to paint and create something new; she still gets excited by the enchantment of painting, creating something from a blank sheet of paper.
She says that seeing the initial samples of product come a close second, makes the designs become ‘real’ for the first time. Her striking designs now adorn everything from handbags to iPhone cases. Currently, she’s working on a bedding range which she says has been a really exciting project to work on. It will be full of her signature watercolor florals but with some new twists such as some plainer items and embroidered pieces in signature Bluebellgray colors. She’s a huge fan of cushions and paint, and according to her, using these two things creatively and carefully can make a big impact on a frugal budget. Her deep wall color really adds a fresh modern feel to an interior and makes a room feel bright.
