Sarah Ogren’s work is about joy. Her work is about remembering the positives in life, and about possibilities. She wants the viewer to feel hopeful, inspired, and to view the world in a more light-hearted manner. Sarah knows the value of positive thinking on the quality of people’s lives. She also knows that people sometimes need reminders to think this way. Sarah hopes that her work will help provide that reminder. A gentle nudge to live in the instant, realign people’s thoughts to the positive, and make the world a little happier place. She says that when a person’s day is brighter, their pass on that joy to others. She likes to think of art as a sort of "pay back to the society.” She chooses to work in mixed media collage, and she loves the flexibility of mixed media and finds art to be more visually interesting and appealing the more visual texture it has from different media.
She likes creating her main images separately and then placing those images onto the main painting. Each piece of her art begins with several layers of acrylic paint, and she will sometimes etch into the surface of the paint with the back of a paintbrush, scissors, or use rubber stamps to add visual interest and texture. Once the paint has dried, she adds paper collage images that she has created. She then finishes with ink and pen and pencil details. Her art can be seen in many museums, galleries and institutions around the world.
