Solveiga was born in Latvia. He spent a fabulous childhood in Riga in the Creative and Artistic environment of Post Soviet, after which he left for Finland to study at the University of Art and Design of Helsinki in 1992. 5 years later, his passion for travel pushed him further and Solveiga decided to go to France where he completed his Master's degree in Fashion Design from the French Fashion Institute in Paris at IFM. He fell in love with the city and forgot to move on, and decided to settle down, and founded family - he still lives in France to date. Solveiga says he’s looking for the fragile balance of his state of mind called happiness. He believes there’re so many ways to understand and approach it, and everyone should find his own.
For him, painting is the way of telling stories about how he sees the world. Pursuing his love for beauty, light and colors, he travels a lot, and all his experiences and emotions are recorded in his sketches, photos and notes. And once he’s back at home, he starts painting, getting his inspiration from all the treasured memories, and mixing his reality and dreams with fiction. Solveiga loves to paint Urban Landscapes of Hong Kong and New York, and then he gets back to the colorful lightness of Mediterranean coasts and beautiful serenity of Asia. He likes abstract art because of its concreteness in the Figurative expression and its liberty. When the emotion and color are taking over, he faces an unlimited richness of imagination.
