Tamara Gond received a Master of Fine Art degree from Cornell University after receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. Abstract Expressionism and Color Field paintings feel like home to her because, according to her, they are what paintings are meant to be. She’s a painter. Her paintings are about texture, color, shape and line, simple and pure. She calls herself a colorist. She says that color is the life of her paintings. The work flows between coldwax /encaustic, watercolor, and acrylics and touches on many dispositions. The one thing they all have in common is the color’s vitality. Some time back, a few galleries showed her Abstract paintings and she was lucky enough to have a few of her paintings hang in leading museums around the country. Her life, her art, her work - it is uniquely American abstract.
She used to mainly produce Abstract Expressionist and Color Field works, but after her first trip to Paris, her work changed dramatically and visiting Musee de Orangerie of Monet and his painting backdrops. Her work changed into what she calls her Lyrical-Abstracts. Currently, she exhibits her art at Image Concision, Fruitlands Museum, Harvard MA, Alpen Art and Antics, Aspen, UGallery, Sculpture Garden and Mill Brook Gallery, Concord New Hampshire, Alpers Fine Art Gallery, Andover, MA, Artemis Gallery, Northeast Harbor ME, Litt Fine Art Gallery Vail, Co, Galatea Gallery, Boston MA, and Outnumbered, Littleton, Co, among other places. Her work reflects an appreciation of her many different American places – the places she’s experienced, as re-construed experiences for her viewers.
